Fantastic and strange
I chose this topic because you can do a wide range of experiments, and chose different types of images, relating to the topic. Also, I have more variety as I can chose pictures for fantastic as well as strange. The other topics were just focusing on one area, which would limit my ideas but fantastic and strange is a very broad topic, this would allow me to express my creativity to the fullest.

Jerry Uelsmann
This is a photo taken by a photographer called Jerry Uelsmann. He also creates photos in the darkroom. His image relates to my theme as it is fantastic and strange because the clouds look like they have been placed in a certain way using effects, which is very fantastic and strange.

Igor Morski
Igor Morski is a photographer who uses the outline of a head to create an image, which is very creative. Each image that he makes tells a different story, which instantly makes the viewer more engaged and interested in his work. The most common theme of his pictures are of nature.

Mari Mahr
Mari Mahr's photography is interesting, yet very strange, which relates to my theme. Her images also look like they are narrating a story about her life. Her images are really confusing and make you question why she took and edited the images in a confusing way. For example, the photos above have no correlation with eachother which makes you wonder what significance they have, maybe there's an underlying story behind these pictures.
William Eggleston
William Eggleston is a photographer who focuses on different sections of the buildings when taking an image. His photos above might be plain and very deserted, but it looks very interesting with a small amount of scenery in the image. If he included the full building then it wouldn't really significant or as interesting. I think this is a really good idea as it inspires me to think about the composition of my photographs.
1st Experiment
WWW
This is my first experiment where I went to the school fields and took these photos. I used an iPod for the first six photographs and then a canon for the last six, which is why the last pictures are clearer. These photographs relate to the theme in terms of looking strange in as I composed them in a weird sort of way. I think the picture look better when there was bad weather because it made everything look more strange as everything was dark. However, the pictures I took in the sun was really good because I really thought of the composition.
EBI
Next time, I will experiment further by blending to create a more powerful and abstract images.

2nd Experiment
These are the second experiment where I used an App from an I-pod Blender. I have used nature as a starting point, so I focused on the skyline and the trees. I enjoyed taking these images because I couldn't predict the outcome which made it more exciting. First, I had to take an image and then take another for the foreground, and then I had to merge it together.
I took these images right outside my school building and was determined to get a lot of nature in my images as I know that trees and grass have a lot of vibrants colours to add to my images.
WWW
These images do look quite strange in my opinion as its surroundings resemble a forest. The images that have trees merged with the skies really create a powerful image as it looks like an approaching storm.
EBI
Next time, I could edit these images by enhancing and increasing contrast, which will make them look more brighter, also I will increase the sharpness to make my images look more defined.

3rd Experiment
These images were also taking with the blender app but this time I changed the amount of foreground that was visible to create more fantastic images. These images were also taken throughout the school, I focused on the skyline and trees and tried to capture some sunlight as well. I chose to include some of the scenery to make my picture more strange and mysterious.
WWW
Luckily, it was a quite sunny day when I took these images, which is why I decided to include the clouds. I think that clouds really contribute to the quality of my images as it looks like it's 3D and quite magical.
During this experiment, I considered different ways of how to compose my images to make it different from my other experiments. I achieved this by turning my ipod around at different angles, whilst capturing the image. I even experimented by kneeling down and took the image from a low angle to create different image. By doing this, it made me look very different from the others, During this experiment, I considered different ways of how to compose my images to make it different from my other experiments. I could improve these images by carefully thinking about the composition so that I can ultimately focus of nature and avoid taking pictures with too much scenery e.g. buildings. However, next time I will include a little bit of scenery, so that my picture looks more interesting.
4th Experiment
For my fourth experiment, I chose to edit my favourite photos from my previous experiments using iPhoto effects.
WWW
By adding these effects on my images, it instantly made it look very strange which is what I wanted to achieve. For every picture, I increased the saturation which changed the colour and sharpness which makes it the picture looked sharper in some sense where the first image looks much softer. The colours are different and are more turquoise and there is more of a range of colours, I have also noticed that it has stopped looking like the sky and more of a painting or it looks like ink.

I edited the photo above using the cooler option and then it went a bright blue colour, I also lighten the picture which made the sunlight look more bigger.
I edited the photo above by making it more cooler and I also increased the temperature to create a bluer image.

I edited the photo above by cropping the sides to focus on the sky and clouds, I changed the temperature and made it cooler. Also, I increased my sharpness of my image so that it would look more detailed.

Final Pieces
Final Evaluation
At first, I started researching about different artists making double exposures and thought it was really interesting. I enjoyed the idea of having two images blended together as they are open to a lot of interpretation. After I started experimenting double exposures in the darkroom and enjoyed it, but I didn't want to be working in the darkroom, so I made the decision to explore different options. Originally, I wanted to use a professional canon camera because it produces high quality images but it didn't allow me to create double exposures in the settings. Instead I chose to use iPod which was much more convenient for me, as it allowed me to use an app which helped blend the images instantly.
My theme was fantastic and strange, so I thought taking pictures of buildings and nature would be a good place to start. When I started taking pictures of buildings and nature, I gradually noticed that it wasn't really fantastic or strange at all. After noticing this, I chose to change the composition of my photos to make them look more interesting and strange. My photos were much better when I took them from camera low angles, I think it looks more fantastic and makes you wonder how the photographer took the image.
However, I wasn't entirely happy with the colour of my blended images so I decided to use iPhoto effects with hopes that it would transform my images. I increased the temperature of my photos on iPhoto by making it cooler, which made my photo a vigorous blue colour. I was really happy with final colour of my images as it made my picture look even more fantastic and strange.

The photos above are my final pieces. After all the experimenting, I'm really satisfied with the outcome as they all look fantastic and strange in terms of composition and colour. The reason why I chose these images is because they were the only ones which really stood out to me and made me proud of what I achieved in the editing and blending. From what I started with, I think that I have come a long way with last outcome against the original photos. To conclude, I think I'm proud of my images as they are rich in a vibrant blue colour and make really outstanding pieces.
